The Pause Is the Antivirus
Is this deduction, intuition, or potentially corrupted borrowed history? Hold it provisionally. That pause is the antivirus.
Almost everything we treat as real sits in the third category of knowing: Borrowed History. And that category is now free to be forged at scale.
A clip arrives. A moment that never happened, rendered with enough precision that the brain accepts it before the caption ever appears. Emotional residue included. You feel something. You almost remember it.
That is the event. Not the video. The event is what happens in you.
Classify before you keep
Two Cent Philosophy is not a pose. It is a practice of classification. Before a claim becomes part of what you “know,” ask one question, asked consistently:
Is this deduction… intuition… or potentially corrupted borrowed history?
If it is deduction, it will survive the question. If it is intuition, it is yours, and you already know the limits of handing it to someone else. If it is borrowed — and nearly all of it is — hold it provisionally.
Provisional does not mean cynical. Civilization cannot run on suspicion alone. It means you refuse to let a well-made forgery compound in you the way a real memory does. You do not grant it the interest of belief until it has earned the principal of evidence.
Intentional effort
A dividend, in this house, is not a payout you wait for. It is wisdom from intentional effort. The effort is small and daily: a pause, a classification, a refusal to let the feed write your past.
Community notes cannot save you. Captions cannot save you. The machines that can forge the clip can forge the correction. The only practical response that scales is installed in the person who watches.
Hold it provisionally. That pause is the antivirus. Install it.
